The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Saturday launched Aditya-L1, India's first space-based mission to study Sun. It was launched by PSLV-C57 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The spacecraft is planned to be placed in a halo orbit around Lagrangian point 1 (L1) of Sun-Earth system, which is about 1.5 million km from Earth.
