British travel firm Thomas Cook collapsed on Monday after it failed to secure a rescue package from its lenders, stranding around six lakh holidaymakers around the globe. Peter Fankhauser, the 178-year-old travel firm's CEO, said the collapse was a "matter of profound regret". The tour operator's failure puts 22,000 jobs at risk worldwide, including 9,000 in the UK.
